Alain Herscovici (Fed. Univ. of Espírito Santo, Brésil), 16 octobre 2026

Abstract : The main objective of this paper is to develop, from Lakatos´s approach, a rational reconstruction of the evolution of economic science, based on the various criticisms levelled at the neoclassical scientific research program. I will show how the extension of the scope of neoclassical theory and its attempts to align itself with the neoliberal school result in internal contradictions. In the first part, after presenting Lakatos’ main findings, I will define the mechanism of implosion and the neoclassical hard core. In the second part, I will explain the ways in which neoliberal critiques of the neoclassical program have developed, and why they translate in to a violation of the neoclassical hard-core integrity.
